Dr. Stefan Soltek

Dr. Stefan Soltek, born 1956 in Cologne, Germany, studied history of art at Cologne and Bonn University. His dissertation about a medieval baptismal font made him studiing bookart from early periods. After a volunteer-stage at the Landesmuseum Kassel he became curator of the Linel collection for bookart and grafics at the museum of applied arts in Frankfurt. Since 2002 he is in charge of the Klingspor Museum Offenbach. Most of his publications lie in the field of bookart and graphic design.

«The expected, the unexpected — calligraphy in the collection of the Klingspor Museum».  The Klingspor Museum holds an enormous collection of calligraphical work. Names like Rudolf Koch, Rudo Spemann, Karlgeorg Hoefer, Gottfried Pott stand for the highest quality to match the standards of the art of handwriting. But a lot of jounger entries show how handwriting explored new fields of expression. The lecture wants to estimate the wide range of aspects and positions.
