Roy Terhorst is a multidisciplinary designer, specialised in graphic design and motion design. He likes to extract a subject straight to its essence. To create a logical, clear - yet experimental - and radical visual language. Since 2012 he works at the Amsterdam based design studio Thonik, and joined the studio as partner since 2021. Gives lectures, exhibitions and workshops.
Thonik is an Amsterdam based collective of designers. Specialized in visual communication with an emphasis on graphic design, interaction design and motion design. The studio combines an integrated strategic approach with high quality design and an adventurous exploration of a broad array of media. Thonik had solo exhibitions at the Shanghai Art Museum, The Venice Architecture Biennial, Spiral Art Center Tokyo, Galerie Anatome and Institut Néerlandais Paris, Moti Breda, and Power station of Art in Shanghai. Thonik’s work is also part of several permanent collections like Centre Pompidou Paris and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
